What is the University of Asia and the Pacific?

The University of Asia and the Pacific is an academic community that offers an educational program that aims to help deserving students who are financially struggling. Like other colleges and universities, the University of Asia and Pacific has its standard and qualifications that each applicant must meet to avail of the scholarship program. Qualified applicants are entitled to receive the financial privileges that can help them towards their educational finances provided that they will submit all the requirements on time and follow all the minimum requirements they are setting with. The followings are the list of the scholarship program that is being offered at the University of Asia and the Pacific (UA&P).

The course of study of your choice may either be:

  • a four-year degree program, which entitles you to earn an AB (Bachelor of Arts) or BS (Bachelor of Science) undergraduate degree at the end of the course
  • a five-year master’s program through which you will earn an undergraduate degree and an MA (Master of Arts) or an MS (Master of Science) Degree at the end of the five years
  • a six-year integrated program through which will earn your senior high school diploma, undergraduate degree and an MA (Master of Arts) or an MS (Master of Science) degree at the end of six years
  • seven-year program through which you will earn an undergraduate degree and Juris Doctor degree at the end of seven years.

For AB/BS program students, the CAS curriculum is a preparation for immersion in their major or specialized course after their sophomore year. For MA/MS programs students, it is a preparation for their specific specializations at the graduate level 94th and 5th years).

At the end of three years, students in five-year programs will have completed the academic requirements for a Bachelor of Arts major in Humanities degree. If they meet all the academic requirements of the graduate program of their choice, they will graduate with two degrees (a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree) at the end of five years.

List of Scholarship Programs at the University of Asia and the Pacific

1. Merit Scholarships

To help students finance their undergraduate education, the University of Asia and the Pacific offers merit scholarships based on the results of their entrance exams.

The Merit Scholarships are highly competitive study grants that could cover up to 100% of tuition fees. Aside from that, top applicants of each batch may also be awarded a stipend, book allowance, and board and lodging allowance for provincial applicants. Meanwhile, applicants whose high school average is at least 90% and who are highly qualified in the UA&P Scholarship Qualifying Exam. The grant depends on the overall rank and the scholarship slots available.

The scholarship may continue up to the graduate level of the University’s five-year or six-year programs or the MA program of a corresponding AB or BS program. To keep the scholarship, the student must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Maintain a cumulative GWA no lower than 1.75, evaluated at the end of each school year.
  • Maintain a passing grade in each enrolled academic and non-academic subject.
  • Maintain a continuous regular full load for each semester prescribed by the program of study.
  • The student must hold a clean disciplinary record.
  • The student must not avail of merit of scholarship in any source and lastly, the student must comply with all other requirements set in the Merit Scholarship Agreement.

2. Financial Aid Scholarships

The University of Asia and the Pacific also provides financial assistance to Filipino students who meet certain standards. To qualify the financial aid an applicant must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Financially needy
  • Have a high school average of at least 85%
  • Must have a favorable recommendation from the principal/school head of the school where the applicant completed high school
  • Must have a positive interview evaluation

The grant covers up to 100% of the tuition fee. Additionally, it is renewable every year and is premised on continued financial need.

Solely dependent on the availability of funds, the financial assistance may continue up to the graduate level of the University’s five-year programs or the MA or MS program of a corresponding AB or BS program. Additional requirements must be complied with by the student to continue the financial scholarship. Failure to fulfill any of the requirements and conditions the student forfeits any financial assistance grant from the University.

3. Athletic Scholarships

UA&P is a scholarship program that recognizes the importance of sports in the holistic development of its students. It recognizes the contribution of the student-athletes to institution-building with their efforts to boost school spirit and gain recognition for the University through their achievements in school competitions. Specifically, the program aims to recruit outstanding incoming student-athletes to form part of the varsity team and to incentivize current outstanding UA&P student-athletes.

The UA&P Athletic Scholarship is a scholarship awarded to students- athletes who excel in sports and academics. The chosen student may avail of partial (25%, 50%, 75%) to full (100%) discounts on tuition and other fees like non-tuition grants (stipend, board, and lodging allowance).

Note: The scholarship is for the academic year (two academic semesters) and may be renewed every year.

4. The Dr. Placido Mapa Scholarship Endowment Application

To honor his legacy, UA&P has established the Dr. Placido L. Mapa, Jr. Scholarship Endowment which aims to provide student grantees with 100% coverage of tuition and miscellaneous fees, a 10-month stipend of P8,000, internet allowance, a laptop, and an exclusive professional development coach from UA&P’s Board of Trustees. The scholarship grant is open to incoming 6YP & College Freshmen only.

To apply for a PLM grant, applicants must complete the application form, and the recommendation form to be filled out by their recommender. Additional requirements will be requested as the scholars are short-listed.

5. UNITAS Grant Application

The Unitas Grantees are scholars who are children of the hardworking employees of the said university who maintains good grades and exhibit the principles of the university.

Note: If you’re a Unitas Grant applicant, you are exempt from taking the Online Scholarship Qualifying Exam.
