Our Lady of Fatima University (OLFU) is a respected institution for medical education in the Philippines. It is known for producing competent, world-class medical practitioners and boasts the highest FMGE passing rate in the country. What Is Our Lady of Fatima University?
OLFU began in 1967 as Our Lady of Fatima Hospital, founded by Jose C. Olivares and Dr. Vicente M. Santos to serve the residents of Valenzuela. In 1973, it opened the Our Lady of Fatima College of Nursing, which grew steadily over the years and led to expanded facilities and more program offerings.
Today, OLFU is admired for its paramedical programs, including medicine, dentistry, nursing, medical laboratory science, physical and respiratory therapy, and pharmacy. It also offers a wide range of non-paramedical courses such as business and accountancy, education, criminology, computer studies, maritime education, travel management, and hotel and restaurant management. Programs are available across Basic Education, Senior High School, and Graduate School levels.

OLFU’s commitment to quality has earned it several recognitions and accreditations. Its Nursing and Physical Therapy programs are accredited by the Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation (PACUCOA), while its Graduate School programs received recognition from the Association of Christian Schools, Colleges and Universities (ACSCU). Its College of Maritime Education is ISO certified and included in the Commission on Higher Education’s White List of qualified maritime education providers.

The scholarship programs available at Our Lady of Fatima University are listed below.
1. Academic scholarship
The academic scholarship that is being offered by the Our Lady of Fatima University is a scholarship grant given to deserving students who rank 1-3 in the given entrance examination administered by the university itself. This is usually granted to academically excellent students who maintained high academic grades throughout their taken course.
To apply for the said scholarship grant, interested student applicants must obtain a general weighted average (GWA) of 90% or higher than that. Additionally, they must not have any failing or incomplete grades and must not have a dropped subject. Interested students must also have a good moral character without having any record of disciplinary action or offense.
2. Alumni Discount
The Alumni Discount is an educational privilege given by the university to all qualified senior high school (SHS) graduates of Our Lady of Fatima University who wish to enroll and continue their college course in OLFU.
3. Merit Scholarship
The said scholarship grant is one of the academic scholarships given to students who are academically excellent or portray an outstanding academic performance or any co-curricular achievements. To recognize the student’s efforts to achieve such performance, the said university gives merit to such action by giving this scholarship award in recognition of the student’s achievement.
The deserving students who are qualified to be a merit scholarship awardee must have a 90% of a general weighted average (GWA) which is also ranked as 1st, 2nd, or 3rd top students that got the highest score in the entrance examination which contains no failing grades in any subject course or incomplete or dropped subjects.
4. Continuing Academic Scholarship for Dean’s Lister
Students who are included in the Dean’s Lister or those students who are academic achievers that have excellent academic performance can receive an award and a scholarship discount in recognition of their achievement and efforts that will also serve as their motivation to strive harder.
5. Leadership scholarship
Most likely, some students were born with gifted leadership talents wherein they demonstrate exceptional skill in leading their fellow students and guiding certain organizations in a well-organized manner. Hence, the Our Lady of Fatima University together with their Office of Student Affairs aims to motivate students with such leadership skills and boost their motivation by providing them educational financial assistance which could greatly support student’s educational finances through the leadership scholarship.
Student-leaders who are recognized as the presidents and underlying officers of the recognized organization of the said university, who take an active part by rendering service to the school and to their student body are awarded scholarships which they can apply for if they wish to.
To apply, the interested applicant must be a Filipino citizen without any record of offense or any disciplinary action taken in short, the student applicants must have a good moral character and visible talent in leadership.
6. Sibling Discounts
Practically, siblings that are both studying in the said university and are qualified to acquire the said educational discount may have the privilege to enjoy the percentage educational fee discount if they are eligible to be one of the discount beneficiaries.
7. Service scholarship
The service scholarship is being granted to those students who render service to the school community or any school-related task which certainly gives a sense of volunteerism to the school and its offices and activities. The said scholars of the service scholarship have actively participated in school activities and community service through the volunteer work done by the interested students. Eligible student scholars must meet the specific and basic requirements including the following;
- Must be a Filipino citizen.
- With good moral character
- Willing to be a volunteer or render service for the school community
- Must have no failing or incomplete grades.
- Athletic and Sports Scholarship
The said scholarship grant is being offered to the students who are engaged in sports and are part of the varsity team of each sport that the university have wherein interested varsity player are given a scholarship grant and the privilege to represent the school in any local, national and international sports competition.
8. Government Subsidy (TES)
The Tertiary Education Subsidy (TES) is a government subsidy under the provision of Republic Act 10931, or otherwise known as the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act, that is being offered to the college student of both public and private colleges and universities all over the country. This government-provided scholarship program has a prioritization list, wherein students that belong to 4P’s program of the government are the priority to receive a semestral incentive given to the school which will be distributed to students that are recognized as scholarship beneficiaries.
The university will assist interested students to apply in the scholarship grant and the qualified applicants can receive Php 60,000 that will be divided over two semesters of the school year if they are enrolled in a private university or college institution and Php 40,000 for those scholarship grantees that are enrolled in public universities.
