The University of Santo Tomas is known as the oldest existing university in Asia. It was founded by Bishop Miguel de Benavides, O.P., a third Archbishop of Manila. For interested UST students, the following are the list of all the scholarship program that they may choose from to support and finance their studies.
University of Santo Tomas Scholarship Programs
- UST Entrance Scholarship
This is a scholarship program that is being offered to the top-performing students or honor students that are incoming college students at UST. The privileges given to the eligible recipient will base on their honor rank for highest honor awardee, a 100% discount on tuition fees and miscellaneous fees in one semester given 75% to the high honors, and 50% to the honor student. This is open to all students that are incoming freshmen and have a General Weighted Average of 90%.
- Santo Tomas Scholarship Program (College Level)
This is a scholarship program being offered to the top students that are academically excellent and are incoming college freshmen students of the said university. Eligible applicants must be a Top 1 or Top 2 honor student of their batch. Aside from that, they must also pass the UST admission test and the qualifying examination for the scholarship program. For the Top 1 honor applicants, she can receive a 100% discount on the total fees and learning materials or book allowance in the first year of admission only and 50% of the same benefits will be also given to the second honor student.
Note: Scholarship awardee can renew the said scholarship every term in a year.
- Santo Tomas Scholarship Program (Faculty of Civil Law)
Another scholarship opportunity of the said university for the confirmed enrolled freshmen students of the UST Faculty of Civil Law is given under this scholarship program. Qualified applicants must be a graduate with Latin honors whether it is Cum Laude, Magna Cum Laude, and Summa Cum Laude. For Summa Cum Laude, he or she can receive a 100% discount on the tuition fee and a 50% discount on the same benefits will also be given to the Magna Cum Laude and Cum Laude. The P.E. uniform and other out-of-state fees are not included in the scholarship. The grantees are the ones who shoulder other personal fees. The applicants of the said scholarship program must submit all the required documents, particularly the documents needed on or before the deadline for the submission. The submission opens every working day and it will automatically be closed once the slots are already full at the Office of Student Services and Affairs.
- Santo Tomas Scholarship Program (Senior High School)
The same scholarship program is offered to the incoming senior high school student in the UST wherein interested applicants must be a Top 1 or Top 2 honor student in their junior high school batch. These academically top-performing students should pass all the required documents on or before the schedule of application closes. Those applicants who came from a private institution are required to take and pass the qualifying examination for the said scholarship that will be administered by the Office of Admission however those applicants who came from public school, can proceed to the Office of the Student Affairs together with their required documents.
- Santo Tomas Scholarship Program (Faculty of medicine and surgery)
The said scholarship program is named after the Patron Saint of the University and is given to interested applicants that are enrolled as a freshmen student in the Faculty of medicine and surgery that are Latin Honor graduates of UST wherein they are required to pass the necessary required documents on or before the deadline of submission. The same benefits as the Faculty of Civil Law receives will be given to the qualified applicants of this scholarship grant.
- San Lorenzo Ruiz Scholarship (College)
Financially needy students will be the priority beneficiaries of this scholarship program that are willing to spend 20-30 hours per week or 6-5 hours per day for their student assistantship and university service. These small efforts lead to a lifetime opportunity that will change their lives in the future. Qualified applicants must be a Filipino citizen and pass the UST entrance examination that is physically and mentally healthy that are fit enough to undergo any rigorous activities concerning their academic activities. Eligible applicants can receive monthly stipends and a 100% discount on the total school fees.
- San Martin De Porres Scholarship (Senior High School, College/ Leapmed)
The San Martin De Porres Scholarship for Senior High School, College, or Leapmed is for deserving students that are financially unstable and needs financial assistance wherein the qualified applicants must be a Filipino citizen and must pass the admission exam of the said university.
- Santo Domingo Scholarship Program (Senior High School & College Level)
This scholarship is open to those gifted students in arts, music, and sports which are named after the order of orders founder. For a music scholarship, it is awarded to incoming college students/ enrolled college students that are exceptionally versatile in singing, and for a sports scholarship, it is given to both high school (Junior High School or Senior High School) and college students wherein there are criteria in each category.
