What Is the Technological Institute of the Philippines?
The Technological Institute of the Philippines (TIP) was established on February 8, 1962, led by Engr. Demetrio A. Quirino, Jr. and Dr. Teresita U. Quirino. It is a private, non-sectarian tertiary institution that specializes in Computer Studies and Engineering. TIP also offers programs in Architecture, Maritime Studies, Business Administration, and Teacher Education.
The university runs two campuses: TIP-Manila in Manila and TIP-Quezon in Quezon City.
Since its founding, TIP has stayed committed to quality education and lifelong learning. Its dedication has earned it several accreditations and certifications, including ABET—the gold standard in engineering and computer studies. This accreditation confirms that TIP’s programs meet some of the world’s best professional standards and practices.
TIP also makes education more accessible by offering support to students who face financial difficulties. These programs are designed for those who need help sustaining their studies amid the many challenges that can affect learning. Below is the list of scholarship programs available at the Technological Institute of the Philippines that you may apply for.
1. Engr. Demetrio A. Quirino, Jr. Scholarship Grant
The said scholarship grant is given to the students of the Technological Institute of the Philippines who are taking up engineering and architecture programs. It is an annual scholarship program that is offered to deserving senior high school graduates who want to enroll in any of the related courses in the aforementioned degree programs.
- Ten (10) scholarship grantees will be selected every year as a recipient of the scholarship program.
- Interested applicants must have a general average of 85% during their 3rd quarter in Grade 12 and must have taken college courses before the examination.
- Scholars will not pay any amount throughout the scholarship term, provided that they shall maintain the grade requirement given to them.
- Disqualification of the scholarship award will be taken if the scholarship beneficiaries will commit an infraction of any rules in the student manual. Therefore, students should maintain the requirements set by the university and the scholarship program to them.
2. Entrance Scholarship
The entrance scholarship grant is given to academically excellent students who attain the highest and high honor award of their Senior High School graduating batch. Likewise, this scholarship will be subdivided into two categories; (1) those senior high school graduates who graduated with the highest honor and (2) senior high school graduates with high honors. Both must be a graduate with at least 50 members of the graduating batch that is being recognized by the Department of Education (DepEd).
A. Senior High School Highest Honor Awardee
The said scholarship program is given to those students who graduated Senior High School with the highest honor award and to avail of the Senior High School Highest Honor Awardee, the interested student applicant must be able to meet the following requirements:
- Must attain a general weighted average (GWA) of 98-100 percent at the end of the school year and must have passing grades in all learning areas.
- Interested applicants must submit a Senior High School Report card (Form 138)
- Certificate of Honors duly signed by the School Principal and the campus registrar.
- Certificate of student ranking according to academic achievement.
Important Note: This is a first come first serve basis scholarship grant and 50 student beneficiaries can be qualified for the scholarship grant, wherein qualified beneficiaries can receive a 100% free tuition fee for at least one semester.
B. Senior High School with High Honor Awardee
Students who graduated Senior High School with a High Honor award must be able to meet the following requirements to be able to receive the benefits of the Entrance Scholarship grant:
- Must attain a general weighted average (GWA) OF 97-95 percent at the end of the school year and must have passing grades in all learning areas.
- Interested applicants must submit a Senior High School Report card (Form 138)
- Certificate of Honors duly signed by the School Principal and the campus registrar.
- Certificate of student ranking according to academic achievement.
Important Note: This is a first come first serve basis scholarship grant and 450 student beneficiaries can be qualified for the scholarship grant wherein qualified beneficiaries can receive a 50% free tuition fee for at least one semester.
3. Dr. Teresita U. Quirino Scholarship Grant
This is a scholarship grant given to incoming freshmen college students who want to enroll in the said institution, and who wish to take accountancy and teacher education-related courses in Quezon City.
There will be 5 scholarship student awardees every year in which they must possess a general weighted average of eighty-five percent (85%) in the third quarter as a Grade 12 and must not have taken any college course before the examination.
The scholarship awardee can receive a Php 2, 500 with no fees throughout the study program. Just like the terms and conditions stated in Engr. Demetrio A. Quirino, Jr. Scholarship Grant above, the Dr. Teresita U. Quirino Scholarship Grant also disqualifies its scholars only if the scholarship beneficiaries will commit an infraction of any rules in the student manual. Therefore, students should maintain the requirements set by the institution and the scholarship program to them.
4. Entrance Discount
The Entrance Discount is an educational privilege given to Senior High School graduates with at least 50 members of the graduating class that attained a general weighted average of 90 percent stated in his or her report card as duly recognized by the school and the Department of Education (DepEd).
There are only 500 scholarship slots and selection will be based according to the qualification criteria being set by the institution. Additionally, since the scholarship has a limited number of scholarship awardees, there will be a first come first serve basis in which selected beneficiaries can receive a 25% discount on their tuition fee for at least one (1) semester only. The said educational privilege is more likely similar to an entrance scholarship.
5. Loyalty Discount
The Loyalty Discount is given to the Senior High School graduates of the Technological Institute of the Philippines who still want to study or enroll in their alma mater based on their chosen course.
Qualified scholarship beneficiaries shall receive a one-time loyalty discount amounting to Php 3,500 on top of other applicable discounts for one (1) semester during their first college enrollment as freshmen students in the said institution.
