What is the Landbank of the Philippines’ Gawad Patnubay Scholarship Program?

LANDBANK of the Philippines created the mandate of helping spur and sustain countryside development in the form of the corporate social responsibility programs (CSR) such as the LANDBANK Gawad Patnubay (Gawad Pag-aaral Tungo sa Maunlad na Bayan) Scholarship Program. Aside from offering educational funding, the Gawad Patnubay Scholarship Program also has an Education-to-Employment (E2E) internship component. E2E opens opportunities for the scholars to prepare after graduation and aims to secure agriculture-related jobs for the scholars at the end of the program.

E2E Internship Program

This is a 10-week intensive internship program composed of three weeks of lectures, seminars, and professional and personality development activities at the LANDBANK Head Office in Manila where scholars will experience 7 weeks of fieldwork in LANDBANK or different partner institutions. Since 2015, some scholars are currently working with LANDBANK’s partner institutions.

Qualifications

Here are the eligibility requirements you must meet when you intend to apply for the Land bank of the Philippines’ Gawad Patnubay Scholarship Program.

  1. Applicants must be Filipino citizens.
  2. Additionally, they must have gone through initial screening procedures of partner universities such as entrance exams, submission of required documents, and preliminary interviews, which are standard requirements for enrollment.
  3. Preferably applicants must be dependents of active members of cooperatives of small farmers and fishers that are currently being assisted by LANDBANK or the LCDFI, or of Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries (ARBs) and Agrarian Reform Communities (ARCs).
  4. They must be students pursuing a BS in Agriculture, BS in Fisheries, or any agriculture-related discipline.
  5. They must have a general weighted average (GWA) of at least 2.5 or its equivalent in each semester, with no grades lower than 3.0 or its equivalent in any subject.
  6. Aside from that, they must not be enjoying any other financial assistance, grant, or scholarship from other external sources such as foundations, government, and private scholarships, or pre-need educational plans.
  7. They must have an annual total family income not exceeding PHP 300,000.00 as stated in their BIR Income Tax Return (ITR), with exemptions depending in some cases as may be determined by the Selection Committee. For instance, parents having six (6) or more children may have an income that could exceed PHP 300,000.00 yet still qualify for the scholarship.
