The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) has begun accepting applications for its STEM Scholarship Program (GSSP) for Academic Year 2026-2027. The program supports children of qualified members who plan to pursue Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics degrees at schools recognized by the Commission on Higher Education.
Each grantee receives a yearly financial subsidy, with extra rewards waiting for those who graduate with honors. Interested members should act early, as slots are limited.
Benefits
- ₱15,000 subsidy per academic year for the full duration of the STEM course
- Cash incentives for graduating with Latin honors
- Summa Cum Laude – ₱50,000
- Magna Cum Laude – ₱30,000
- Cum Laude – ₱20,000
The subsidy is released only after the student submits college grades showing a General Weighted Average (GWA) of at least 85%. The grant cannot be transferred to another child.
Document Requirements
- Completed GSSP Application Form
- Original or certified true copy of the child’s PSA birth certificate
- Original or certified true copy of the member’s Certificate of Employment or Service Record
- School certification confirming the child’s acceptance or enrollment, including course, duration, and year level
- Original or certified true copy of the Senior High School Report Card showing at least 90% GWA with no failing grade
Additional papers for PWD, IP, and Solo Parent applicants:
- Endorsement from the head of agency or office
- Valid PWD ID, Certificate of Tribal Membership, or Solo Parent ID, whichever applies
Qualifications
The GSIS member must be a regular, active member with permanent employment status at Salary Grade 15 or below (or its equivalent). Premium payments must be updated during the application window. Each member may nominate only one child for the whole program. PWD, IP, and Solo Parent members qualify too, along with PTD pensioners below 60 years old.
The nominated child must be a first-time, incoming college freshman accepted into a four- or five-year GSIS-identified STEM course. The school must be a CHED-recognized institution, and the child must carry at least a 90% GWA in Senior High School with no failing grade.

Deadline
Applications run from June 30, 2026 to August 31, 2026. Up to 1,000 slots open each year, covering AY 2026-2027 through AY 2029-2030.
