More than 200,000 college students across the Philippines stand to benefit from the Bawat Barangay Makikinabang Scholarship 2026, a nationwide program that provides financial assistance worth PHP 20,000 per scholar at the community level.
The initiative gives barangays a direct role in supporting qualified students with their educational expenses. It aims to help more Filipino families keep their children in college despite financial challenges. Interested applicants should coordinate with their barangay officials for the latest application requirements and schedule.

How the Program Works
At the heart of the program is a simple, community-driven setup. Each of the country’s roughly 42,000 barangays can support five Presidential Scholars, with every scholar receiving ₱20,000 in educational assistance.
The funding comes from the Socio-Civic Projects Fund (SCPF). Each barangay is allotted ₱200,000, and ₱100,000 of that is set aside specifically for scholars. That’s how the government arrives at its estimate of more than 200,000 students helped nationwide.
The scholarship is also known in several communities as the Bagong Pilipinas Presidential Scholarship Program.
Who Gets Priority
While final guidelines are still being firmed up, early announcements point to clear priorities. Students most likely to be favored include:
- Graduating college students
- Students from financially challenged households
- Families with no college graduate yet
The goal is to reach households where a college diploma could change a family’s future.

Requirements
The government has not yet released the complete official list of requirements. Even so, applicants can start gathering the documents that keep coming up in local announcements:
- Valid ID
- Proof of enrollment
- Certificate of Registration (COR)
- Barangay certification
- Academic records
Getting these ready early puts you a step ahead once your barangay opens applications.
How to Apply
There is no online application for this scholarship. The process is done entirely in person — applicants must visit their respective barangay hall to register and submit their documents.
Walk-in registration at the barangay hall is the only way to apply. Applicants must go to their respective barangay in person to submit their documents and complete the registration process. Stay alert for official announcements on your barangay’s bulletin board or Facebook page so you don’t miss the schedule once applications open.
What Students Should Do Now
If this scholarship could help you or someone in your family, don’t wait. Prepare your documents, stay in touch with your barangay, and act quickly once slots open. With only five scholars chosen per barangay, timing and readiness make all the difference.
