Students from Northern Samar who dream of becoming doctors can get major financial support from their own province. The Provincial Government of Northern Samar (PGNS) is continuing its Medical Scholarship Program (MSP) under Governor Edwin Ongchuan’s administration. The goal is to help local students finish medical school and bring their skills back to communities that need more physicians.
For many families, the cost of medical school puts this career out of reach. The MSP is designed to close that gap.

Benefits
- Financial aid of up to P170,000 per semester
- Open to Nortehanon students enrolled in any CHED-accredited medical school in the country, not just schools in the province
- A direct path into public health service, since scholars must render return service to the provincial government after earning their medical license

Document Requirements
New applicants should prepare the following:
- Completed MSP application form
- Certified true copy of NMAT result showing a score of at least 50%
- PSA-issued birth certificate
- NBI clearance
- Voter’s certificate from COMELEC
- Proof of admission to a medical program
- Certified true copy of Transcript of Records (pre-medical course)
- Barangay certificate of residency
- Parent’s income tax return or certificate of tax exemption, or a Certificate of Indigency from the MSWDO for indigent applicants
- Recent medical certificate, drug test result, and psychological test result
- Certificate of good moral character from the last school attended
Continuing students (second year to fourth year, medical interns, and board reviewees) must submit all of the above, plus:
- Proof of enrollment, such as a Certificate of Registration
- Certified true copy of grades

Applicants must be Filipino citizens living in Northern Samar. They should have no administrative or criminal convictions or pending cases. They also need a dean’s certification of good moral character and a government physician’s certification that they are physically and mentally fit.
