The University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) Office of Student Affairs (OSA) has opened its Batch 2 applications for the CHED Tertiary Education Subsidy (TES) for Academic Year 2026–2027 — and the deadline has been extended to September 1, 2026 (Tuesday).
If you missed the first round or are just learning about this program, now is your chance. The TES is a grant-in-aid program under the Unified Student Financial Assistance System for Tertiary Education (UniFAST), established through Republic Act No. 10931, that provides financial support to qualified Filipino college students that grants reaching up to ₱27,000 per academic year.
Benefits
Grant amounts vary based on the type of school and priority classification:
- SUC or LUC (Priority 1): ₱20,000 per academic year
- PHEI (Priority 1): ₱27,000 per academic year
- Priority 2 students: ₱10,000 per academic year (public and private, same rate)
- Persons with Disabilities (PWD): additional ₱10,000 per academic year
- Board or licensure exam takers: one-time reimbursement of ₱8,000
- Students-at-Risk-of-Dropping-Out (SARDO): ₱10,000 one-time subsidy, subject to evaluation
All benefits depend on prioritization guidelines and the availability of funds.
Document Requirements
Requirements may differ per school, but applicants are generally asked to prepare:
- Completed TES Application Form (if required)
- Certificate of Registration (COR) or Proof of Enrollment
- Valid School ID or government-issued ID
- PSA Birth Certificate
- Proof of Income
- Certificate of Indigency (for priority beneficiaries)
- Any extra documents requested by the school’s TES Focal Person
Qualifications
To qualify, a student must:
- Be a Filipino citizen
- Be enrolled in a first undergraduate program at an SUC, LUC, PHEI, or TVI
- Meet the school’s admission and retention policies
- Have no previous bachelor’s degree
- Stay within the maximum residency period for the program
