The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) has opened applications for the Scholarship Program for Coconut Farmers and Their Families (CoScho) for Academic Year 2026-2027. The program offers financial support to the children of registered coconut farmers who want to pursue a college degree.
Qualified students can receive substantial aid to help ease the cost of higher education and stay focused on finishing their studies. Applications are open until August 31, 2026, so families are encouraged to prepare their documents and apply early.
What the Program Offers
CoScho is a national scholarship built to ease the cost of higher education for families who depend on coconut farming. Run by CHED in partnership with the Philippine Coconut Authority, it targets students pursuing priority degree programs, many of them tied to agriculture, science, and rural development. The goal is simple: help these students finish college and bring their skills back to their communities.
Qualifications
The program sets clear eligibility rules. To qualify, an applicant must be:
- A Filipino citizen
- A dependent of a coconut farmer registered in the National Coconut Farmers Registry System (NCFRS)
- A graduating Senior High School student, SHS graduate, or college student with a General Weighted Average (GWA) of at least 80%
There’s also an income cap. The combined annual gross income of the applicant’s parents must not go beyond ₱300,000. Applicants who belong to special equity groups, such as Indigenous Peoples, persons with disabilities, or first-generation college students, may earn extra points during evaluation.
Benefits
CoScho stands out for the size of its support package. Qualified scholars can receive:
- Up to ₱80,000 per academic year in regular allowances, covering stipend and book costs
- A ₱30,000 laptop grant to support their studies
- A ₱25,000 thesis allowance, provided the research relates to the coconut industry
- Internship and summer class allowances, subject to guidelines
High achievers are rewarded too. Scholars who top their licensure exams can receive monetary grants of up to ₱100,000 for a first-place finish, with additional awards for those ranking within the top ten.

CoScho supports students enrolled in degree programs identified as priority courses by the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA). These programs are mostly in agriculture, science, engineering, and community development. If you are currently enrolled in or planning to take any of these PCA-listed courses, you may qualify for financial support under the program.

How to Apply and What Documents You’ll Need
Applications are submitted online through the portal of the CHED Regional Office that covers where you completed senior high school. Applicants fill out their personal, family, educational, and financial details, then upload the required documents, including a PSA birth certificate, academic records, and PCA certification.

- SHS graduates: Form 138 or SF 9
- ALS graduates: Certified true copy of Grade 12 grades

- Certificate of Good Moral Character from your last school attended (for incoming first-year students or transferees)
- Notice of Admission from your chosen Higher Education Institution (for incoming first-year students or transferees)
- Proof of Income — any one of the following:
- Latest Income Tax Return (ITR)
- Certificate of Tax Exemption from the BIR
- Certificate of No Income or Certificate of Low Income from the BIR
- Certificate or Case Study from the City/Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (C/MSWDO)
- HEI Certification confirming enrollment in a CoScho priority program and no existing national government scholarship (for second-, third-, and fourth-year college students only)
