The Merit Scholarship under the DOST Junior Level Science Scholarship (JLSS) Program is formerly known as the NSDB or NSTA Scholarship under RA No. 2067. The Merit Scholarship is awarded to students with high aptitude in science and mathematics who are willing to pursue careers in the fields of science and technology.

This scholarship program is intended to provide scholarships to talented and deserving students whose families’ socio-economic status does not exceed the set cut-off values of certain indicators. Benefits
Scholars or beneficiaries of all the above-mentioned scholarship programs are entitled to receive the following financial benefits per academic year, including the Summer Allowance if required by the curriculum.
Regular Academic Year
- Scholars are entitled to receive Tuition and other school fees (for scholars enrolled in private HEIs) amounting to Php 40,000 per year.
- A Learning Materials and/or Connectivity Allowance up to Php 10,000 per year.
- A Monthly Living Allowance of Php 7,000.
- For students studying outside of their home province, they will receive a Transportation Allowance of 1 economy-class roundtrip fare.
